Confianza Online is an organization set up under the provisions of self-regulation of e-commerce and interactive advertising in 2003. Its main purpose is to raise internet users confidence for which a tool called Sello de Confianza Online was created.

Sello the Confianza Online is the confidence transmission tool. It is used together with the Distintivo Público de Confianza en Línea (Online regulating consumer confidence)- governmental logo granted in 2005 to Confianza Online- by any private or public entity that has undertaken to comply the rules of Ethics Code and has voluntarily decided to asume the settlement of claims submited to an appropriate out-of-court alternative dispute resolution system.

To be able to use Confianza Online it is necessary for the sites to have a Verification of compliance of Ethics Code of online confidence. The Technical Secretariat for Confianza Online will analyze the legal matters such as information about the company, Pre-contract information, proctection data information, navigational warmings for child protection, etc. Once the company has made the necessary changes, it will obtain the logo.

The Ethics Code includes commercial communications, and contractual matters from trade transactions that companies may have with clients through internet and other electronic means.

The Data protection falls within  the scope of CONFIANZA ONLINE’s code and self-regulatory System, since this is a sensitive area that demands and deserves a safeguard in the development of both advertising activities and e-commerce with consumers.
